Devils Tower National Monument lies in remote northeast Wyoming. It is a giant flat topped column of igneous rock formed from an intrusion of magma into the bedrock which has long ago eroded away. The column is 867 feet tall, but even more impressive, it stands atop a  ridge that itself rises 400 feet above the Belle Fourche River. The Wild Images Team opted to capture an image of Devils Tower from near the river such as to include the ridge with its wild colors of red rocks and green trees.
